I’ve been a practicing chiropractor for 10 years, and work a lot with patients suffering with headaches.
Your post has a lot of great information. I’ve also found that using ice at the base of the skull helps quite a bit with headaches - especially migraines and tension headaches.
If a person wants to try that, they should place the ice on the back of their neck where the neck meets the skull. Leave the ice on for 15 min and take it off for an hour.
Repeat this as often during the day as you need to, but be sure to give yourself an hour break between ice treatments.
Thanks!

Great stuff.. I also am a Chiropractor. Have helped people with headaches for over 20 years.
For a quick fix, IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT, exercise. Common and classic migraines can at times be broken by working up a bit of a sweat on a elliptical trainer or a bike. It is not a treatment for the problem but it can give you some relief.
Honestly, I have found that primary headaches come from so many different causes. Picking ONE approach to fix them all simply doesn’t work. In my office, we do get excellent results but we incorporate several different things in our treatment.
A good chiropractor will evaluate primary headaches and might be just the thing to help you get rid of them.
